POV: You just made your first wax appointment…

It’s summer. You may or may not be in a bathing suit 24/7 and you are SICK of shaving. It’s totally understandable and normal to be nervous, but the first thing I want to remind you of is, I literally wax coochies for a living. Okay, now that’s out of the way, here are some common questions I get before y’all get waxed.

How long do I need to let my hair grow out before my appointment? For a Brazilian, 3-4 weeks is usually perfect timing. Anywhere else on the body like underarms or legs depends on your hair growth, usually about 2 weeks or for your leg hair to be the length of a grain of rice.

Do I need to do anything special…down there? Nothing special, BUT there are some things you can do prep-wise.

  • Don’t use any lotions or oils on the area that’s getting waxed

  • If you’re coming while it’s that time of the month, lightly exfoliate a few days prior so the hairs come out easier

  • If you’re nervous about the pain, feel free to take a Benadryl (or an anti-histamine)

  • No alcohol! It thins your blood, and can actually cause more pain to the site getting waxed

  • HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE!

Alright, so does it matter what I wear to my appointment? YES! You should always wear loose fitting or cotton clothing. And I always recommend to let the coochie BREATHE after a wax.

As always, if you have questions, let me know! But hopefully this will make you less nervous before your next wax!
