So you just got waxed, now what?
Let’s set the scene: you just finished up your waxing session and you’re thinking…what’s next?
Well, a lot is next. First, let’s chat immediately after your session. Everyone is different, but generally you can expect some sensitivity, redness, and some bleeding. Which, btw, bleeding is a good sign. It means we got all the hair out! You can expect the area that was just waxed to be very soft.
Next, let’s chat aftercare. I highly recommend you leave your waxing appointment with some sort of exfoliation and hydrator. I always have my clients leave with a supracor bath mitt. This bath mitt can replace your loofah and is mold, mildew and bacteria free! Definitely avoid using a loofah to clean the are after wax since they are a breeding ground for bacteria. I also recommend some sort of PH-balanced wash especially for my Brazilian ladies.
General aftercare is next. In the first 24-48 post-wax do not:
Sweat or workout
Have sexual intercourse
Swim in pools, lakes, oceans or hot tubs
Wear tight fitting clothing or underwear
Use any products on the area unless recommend by your esthetician :)
In the weeks ahead what can I expect? Regrowth will start in about 2 weeks. If you’re feeling itchy post-Brazilian, it’s time to exfoliate because your hairs will start to poke through your skin. Remember, if redness lasts any longer than a few hours, contact your provider. There shouldn’t be any pain over the course of the next few weeks. You’ll notice a decrease in hair growth, some hairs take longer to grow, there might be some bald spots, but don’t worry, it’s totally normal. The point of waxing is to thin out your hairs and slow hair growth.
So, when do I need to come back? Every 4-6 weeks to get on a good routine. You’ll want your hairs to grow back fully before you wax again. You want to get your hair on a cycle.
