Can You Prep Your Skin for Winter?

Winter is coming…”weather” we like it or not (see what I did there 😅?). You might not realize this, but weather can have a huge effect on your skin. It mostly depends on where you live and the climate, for my Midwest babes, when winter comes virtually all the moisture in the air disappears. And, yep, you guessed it, sucks all the moisture out of your skin as well! So, you need to add in some extra hydration - not just onto your skin, but drinking more water as well! Hydration really is the answer to just about everything to solve that dry, itchy, winter skin! It helps with anti-aging (dry skin wrinkles faster than hydrated skin), helps prevent psoriasis and eczema and more!

Okay, so I know we don’t want to start thinking about winter just yet, BUT hear me out on this one. You can start prepping your skin NOW for winter by doing these 3 things once the weather starts to change.

  1. Exfoliating LESS. Consider going to every other week for masking, exfoliating etc.

  2. Use hydrating masks. If you’re going to mask, make sure it’s a hydrating one! My personal faves are HydraCalm by Face Reality and the CBD Micro Silver HydraTherapy Mask from Glymed.

  3. Avoid super hot showers or water when you can. Listen, I know it feels so wonderful to take a hot shower at the end of a cold winter day BUT super hot water can do more harm than good.

Want to remember these 3 tips? Save this checklist to your phone 😜
