Glow Up for the Holidays: Your Ultimate Guide to Prepping Your Skin This Season
It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year! However, this time of year can also be the worst for your skin. Why, you ask?
It’s all the darn sugar! Literally, it’s everywhere! All the sugar combined with the stress of the hustle + bustle of the season and all the stress PLUS lack of sleep is really just the perfect combo for some darn unhappy skin. So today’s blog is going to be all about prepping your skin for the holidays + some tips for handling breakouts during the most wonderful time of the year.
I’m not going to sit here + tell you avoid all sugar, family get togethers, parties and go to bed at 8pm all holiday season because life is meant to be lived. But, if you want to be mindful about your skin this holiday season, here are my top tips:
Watch your portions! If you want to try 5 different cookies at a cookie exchange, break them into halves or pieces to try them but not over-do it.
Make your own substitutes in dishes you’re preparing! Your guests probably won’t even notice the difference 😉
Mind over matter! Ultimately, food is your fuel and we should treat it as such!
“But what if I’m in a pinch and need a quick fix?”
Listen, the only quick fix I roll with is a cold roller 😉 Here’s the deal, a quick fix is just that, quick, but if you’re in a pinch, here’s what I recommend:
A cold roller is the OG of keeping inflammation down and even preventing breakouts before they happen.
Spot treatments like my Sulfur by Face Reality
Masks like my Hydrating Enzyme from Glymed
Having a good cleanser is key! My Skin Better Cleansing Gel is great for all skin types!
Add retinol into your routine! My Skin Better Alpharet Overnight Cream will change your life!
You all know one of my FAVE products the CBD B3 Facial mist is a MUST.
Lastly, my To Go Spa Eye Masks! Perfect for a pick me up before family photos, parties, anything!
If you’re into prepping now for the holiday season, here’s what I recommend:
Hydration, hydration, hydration. In most places, the cold weather during the holiday season can dry out your skin, so if you haven’t already switched up your skincare for the season, do that!
Get into an exfoliation routine. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy, just something once or twice a week to promote skin cell growth + glowing skin!
Book your professional treatments now! The holidays can be some of the busiest times of the year for estheticians, so if you want your skin in tip-top shape, make those appointments now!
Keep an eye on your eyes. The lack of sleep, stress etc. can really have an effect on your eyes. Keep dark eye circles + puffiness at bay with eye creams, cold rollers + eye masks.
Don’t skip the sunscreen. Come on now, did you really think I wouldn’t mentioned SPF? If the sun’s out (heck, even when it isn’t out), keep SPF part of your skincare routine.
Speaking of routine, get one. Now’s the time to really get serious about establishing a consistent skincare routine.
And that’s that! Hopefully this helps you get that glowing skin for not just the holiday season, but for year-round!
