3 Reasons to Wear Sunscreen Daily
During skin cancer awareness month, you didn’t think I’d pass up an opportunity to chat about SPF and sunscreen did you? You always hear that you should wear SPF or sunscreen, and the obvious reason why is to prevent skin cancer, but we’ll talk about other reasons in this post.
SPF is important because it’s the #1 anti-aging defense you have! The sun eats away at the collagen and elastin in your skin, so you definitely want to protect it with SPF. UVA (aging) rays penetrate your skin the deepest, so lather up baby! And who wants to deal with skin cancer? No one! SPF not only protects you from harmful UV rays, it also locks your skin’s natural barrier in place. Oh, and those weird colored spots you get in the summertime? Sunscreen helps prevent the hyperpigmentation spots, so again, lather up!
I think we all know sunscreen helps prevent sunburns, but did you know it also prevents wrinkles, pigmentation, and protection from skin cancer? By using sunscreen daily, your acid mantle (your skin’s barrier and first line of defense) is locked in.
So, the top 3 reasons to wear sunscreen?
Accumulation. Use it daily and that will compound, don’t use it and that can lead to years worth of damage.
Just because it’s not sunny, doesn’t mean UV rays aren’t out to play. The only time UV rays aren’t out is at night.
Want to avoid pigmentation, discoloration, damage and wrinkles later on in life? SUNSCREEN BABY!
Not sure how or when to use sunscreen daily? It’s simple, if you have a daily skincare routine (and if you don’t, let’s chat :)), it’s your last step over top of all your sprays/serums/moisturizers and under your makeup. Sunscreen should be a stand-alone product and not just in your makeup, and applied every 2 hours!
